Celestino Rivera, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on July 29, 2015. He was 92.

Mr. Rivera was born on August 15, 1922 in Cayey, Puerto Rico to the late Francisco Rivera Rodriguez and Filomena Rodriguez Bermudez. He served in the US Army during World War II and on March 20, 1950 he married Iris Davila. She died on October 25, 2001. For many years before his retirement he worked as a porter for the New York City Housing Authority.

He is survived by his daughter, Miriam Rivera; his son, Rene Rivera and his wife Jean; his step-sons, Ruben Perez and his wife Maria, Raul Perez and his wife Carmen and; his grandchildren, Stacey Irizarry-Sydney and her husband David, Harry Cuebas and his wife Keila, Alexander Rivera, Brandon Rivera, and Corey Rivera; his step-grandchildren, Vanessa Perez, Raul Perez, Edwin Torruella and Tonya Torruella; and his great-granddaughters, Samara Sydney and Brianna Sydney.

Visiting will be Sunday 2-6pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 10:15am at Our Lady of Solace Church, 731 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery.
