Domenico Patalano, a longtime resident of Yonkers, died on February 8, 2016. He was 82.
Mr. Patalano was born on August 17, 1933 in Ischia, Italy to the late Aniello and Anna Patalano. He started his career as a master chef at the age of 17 at the Culinary Institute in Venice, Italy. During his service in the Italian Navy he was assigned as the officers' chef. On July 26, 1956 he married Silvia DeFalco. He emigrated to the United States in 1958 where he started a series of restaurants, including the original Napoli Pizza in Manhattan. He established Maestro's Catering Hall, a longstanding catering facility in the Bronx, in 1979. He retired in 2002. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Silvia, on November 3, 2007.
Mr. Patalano was very active in the community. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, a contributor to the Bronx Special Olympics, and was a founding member of the San Silverio Shrine in Dover Plains.
He is survived by his daughter Anna Patalano and her partner Robert Masterson; his sons, Andy Patalano and his wife the late Jeanette and Anthony Patalano and his wife Carolyn; his grandchildren, Domenic Patalano and his wife Danielle, Silvia Patalano-Ross and her husband David, Joanne Patalano and her partner Scott Millan, and Joseph Patalano; his great-grandchildren, Leila Ross and Julian Millan; his sister, Gina Calise; his partner, Egidia Sandolo; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting will be Friday 2-5 & 7-10pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 9:45am at St. Clares' Church. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
